Digital Perm

Unlike the traditional perm, we wrap the hair around heat-emitting rods to create shape-memory curls. Compared to the traditional perm that creates curls when wet, curls made through the Digital Perm process will reveal themselves when the hair is dry.

Pros: - Even if you were unable to recreate the curls in the past, you can easily create a soft, curly style at home.
- Your curls will last longer. *1
- You can create curls with previously chemically straightened hair. *2 Cons: -Due to the heat involved in the process, your hair is more or less likely to receive some damage.
- Due to NYC's hard water, your hair will dry out more easily after the process. [HEARTS New York's Air Wave] At HEARTS New York, we have prepared roughly 5 different types of products for the Digital Perm process alone. Since it is more important to be meticulous with chemical reactions during the Digital Perm process compared to the Straightening process, it is crucial when keeping a damage-less session in mind that your stylist is well-versed in the process and has access to a wide array of products. Appropriate product selection and leave-in time based on your hair type will not only affect the shine and manageability of your hair post-treatment, it will also lead to dryness prevention and long-lasting curls weeks after the process.
- Prior to wrapping hair around the rods, we use a moisturizing and heat-protecting treatment as mid-process prevention. By doing this, we greatly minimize the amount of what would otherwise be severe damage that a heated rod (Approximately 248 degrees) on your hair for over twenty minutes can do.
- The skill that is required of a stylist during the Digital Perm process.
[Appropriate product selection]
[Accurate leave-in time]
[Meticulous heat processing skills]
Please experience the difference in quality, born from respect towards our work.
*1-- Results may differ due to your style and amount of prior hair damage. Curls will last for approximately two to three months.
*2-- Based on the state of your hair, personal curl results may vary.

Japanese Straightening

Improves post-treatment shine A slick feel that doesn't tangle A natural finish with a soft curve Quick turnaround due to carefully selected products

At HEARTS New York, we have prepared roughly 5 different types of products for the Japanese Straightening process alone. Much like personalities, each customer has a distinct hair type, and we do not feel that using a single product to cover all fits our tailored approach. To customize and create an appropriate product mix is a basic and crucial step in dealing with a wide range of hair types and situations. HEARTS New York's Japanese Straightening starts by mixing and matching from 5 different types of products, and we believe this process nearly determines the finish of your hair. The results come through as improved shine, texture, and lasting straightness in your hair.

- Prior to using a hair iron, we coat your hair with a thick treatment as mid-process damage prevention. By doing this, we greatly minimize the amount of what would otherwise be severe damage that the iron's heat (Approximately 356 to 392 degrees) can cause. Additionally, delicate skill is required with the iron in order to keep the cuticles that cover your hair from damage.
- It is a meticulous process from start to finish, but a necessary one in order to create natural and beautiful straight hair with shine.
- The skill that is required of a stylist during the Japanese Straightening process.

Air Wave

The Air Wave uses the "power of air" to control the temperature and moisture level of hair to produce incredibly natural texture. Gorgeous, airy, and lush texture. A silky finish that can be recreated again and again. --Cutting edge technology born from air-- The perm styling possibilities are endless.

While the Digital Perm uses heat to create curls, the Air Wave is a brand-new technology that uses the power of air/wind to perm hair. It's gentle on your hair, and you can expect a silky, lush finish. Like the Digital Perm, the curls reappear when you dry your hair. We especially recommend it for people who have experienced dryness using the Digital Perm process. Pros: - Even if you were unable to recreate the curls in the past, you can easily create a soft, curly style at home. (We especially recommend this for people who want loose curls or a silky finish.)
- Your curls will last longer. *1
- Since it uses the power of air, your hair received very little damage during the process. Cons: - The process cannot be performed on hair that has been chemically straightened.
- Due to NYC's hard water, your hair will dry out more easily after the process.
- The process can be time consuming. Noise from the machine may be loud. *2
[HEARTS New York's Air Wave] - Waves are created by manipulating a layer called the cortex in your hair, and rearranging the cuticles that cover each strand of hair. While traditionally permed hair can take on a more or less dry, frizzy appearance, the Air Wave process substantially minimizes the damage. Some people have even felt that their hair was softer to the touch post-treatment. However, the quality of our machinery would be meaningless if the products used were low-grade, or we did not have the ability to make an accurate selection. At HEARTS New York Salon, we work exclusively with products by high-end brands, and by creating a custom mix, we are able to control damage and accurately respond to every hair type (such as volume, length, and processing history). By eliminating excessive damage risk, we maximize the potential of the Air Wave.
- HEARTS New York takes every step possible to minimize the risks.
